Food Awareness Safety Training
NDDH does not have any FAST classes scheduled at the moment.
If interested in scheduling a private FAST class, submit the form above with the following information to email@nddh.org:
- 3 possible schedule dates for the class (Tuesdays or Thursdays work best for our office)
- A list of participants (each will need to submit a separate form). You will need at least 10 people (max of 20) for us to schedule a private FAST class.
- Location of where you would like the class to be held (travel fee applicable).
The FAST course was developed to teach proper food handling techniques. Originally designed to target volunteers and non-profit sponsored events, it was expanded to reach food service owners, new employees and students. FAST Certification is valid for five years.
The class teaches the importance of food safety in preventing foodborne illnesses. Students are provided with knowledge of major diseases such as E.coli and Salmonella and the importance of personal hygiene, hand washing, and proper temperature control. Also taught are appropriate methods for receiving, storing, preparing and cooking food items. Finally, students gain knowledge about effective methods of cleaning and sanitizing equipment and the importance of insect and pest control inside the food service establishment.
The Fee Schedule for FAST classes can be found at the top of our Forms & Permits page.
Classes are offered to participants from non-profit organizations at a reduced cost of $50.00/participant plus Travel Fee of $45.00. Volunteer non-profits must provide a tax exempt number. Class size limited to 20 participants.
